Horse Video

Great For Equine Education, Instruction, and Entertainment

A horse video can be placed in a couple different categories depending on the content. The two big categories of horse videos we will be looking at are those for training or instruction and entertainment.

Educational videos are those that include helpful training techniques or instruction for basic care information. All are helpful to build the knowledge of the horse owner.

Entertaining videos include movies that many of us horse lovers remember watching as kids. Some of which may have inspired you to become a lifetime horse addict.

This is a simple way to categorize the topic of horse videos though there are a variety of videos available at your fingertips.

Educational Videos
Many horse owners and enthusiasts are on a constant search for more information about their horse. An educational horse video can help you with anything from the basics of grooming and feeding to advanced training techniques to help in the show ring.

Here are a couple examples of some helpful educational videos.

Training Videos:
Videos of this nature are very helpful for those looking for help in working with your horse. Training videos cover the very basics of horse training such as ground work, up to advanced finishing techniques to help you polish your horse for a show.

Training videos with basic training instruction can include topics such as:

  • Lunging
  • Leading
  • Basic Ground work
  • Basic Commands Under saddle

Training videos with more advanced topics for showing can include topics such as:

  • Showmanship
  • Horsemanship
  • Trail
  • Western Pleasure
  • Hunter Under Saddle

These are only a few ideas to get you thinking on what may suit your current training needs. There are obviously many other topics that can be covered in a horse video to help you and your horse.

Instructional Videos:
Instructional videos are those that may be helpful in areas other than training your horse. These videos may help to teach you basic grooming and horse care.

They may also offer information on choosing the right vet or farrier, choosing the right horse, and even information on how you can keep yourself in shape to ride and work with your horse.

Entertaining Videos
Many of us can remember a favorite horse movie that we grew up loving. These movies may have shaped us and hooked us into the wonderful world of horse ownership.

These classic horse videos are typically stuck somewhere in our movie collection and we get them out on those rainy days when we need a little pick-me-up or walk down memory lane. Nothing else may help you feel like a kid again than watching your favorite horse movie!

In fact, many of our favorite are being remade into higher quality DVD's. Here are a few examples of some favorite equine movie title:

  • Black Beauty
  • Seabiscuit
  • National Velvet
  • The Silver Stallion
  • The Horse Whisperer
  • The Black Stallion

There are many more horse movies created every year, but the above list encompasses some classic favorites!

There are other entertaining videos available for viewing thanks to the internet. Many owners are posting videos of their own horses doing something funny or interesting at home, or videos shot at a recent show.
