What is Stock Horse
Show Source?
Well, in a nutshell it is an online resource of helpful horse showing
and horse-related information for amateur exhibitors and all horse
enthusiasts.
My name is Lynn and I developed
this website based on my own experiences when I started with horses and
showing them. I found out first hand how big the learning curve was for
new horse owners and made many mistakes along the way.
Growing up, horses were not possible for my parents to afford and the
little exposure I got to them came in the form of short-term leases for
some showing and riding lessons. I only showed for a couple years as a
youth and gave it up to focus on other school activities and a social
life outside the barn.
It wouldn't be until I was a young adult that I would purchase my first
horse. I didn't make the wisest decision in buying a 2 year old with
only 30 days of training.
I was also a little too trusting of sellers when I went looking for my
first horse. After I had her almost a year, I decided I would like to
try taking her to some local open shows and get back into showing.
I soon found out that even a local horse show was very intimidating to
new exhibitors. I had many more questions about the different classes
at the show and how to get my horse ready to show. In the end I was
able to show my mare for a couple years, but I wanted more direction to
improve my performance as an exhibitor.
That leads me to where I am today. Now I have 2 wonderful horses that I
love dearly and take to horse shows each year. I have found a wonderful
trainer to help me reach my goals in showing and I also take comfort in
the fact that my horses are being well taken care of. My goals are much
higher now than they were when I first started showing at the open
horse shows.
I chose to put together this site
for a couple of reasons. In the early years of horse ownership I
remember having a lot of questions. I also had a difficult time
figuring out where to go to have these questions answered.
I do have a close and trusted friend who has had horses all her life,
but I felt like I became a little bit of an annoyance after a while.
I basically learned by doing and making mistakes, but I do feel it
would have been nice to have had a source of information to answer my
questions. Being newer to both horses and the horse shows may have been
a little easier.
I also am a very creative person and love to write. I have found it is
a passion of mine to be able to write about my experiennces as an
exhibitor in the horse industry.
Stock Horse Show Source is also a site that offers other important
horse information such as horse care, health, tack, riding, safety, and
nutrition. It is our goal to offer information that will be helpful to
both novice and more experienced horse owners and exhibitors. You also
don't have to show your horse regularly or at all to benefit from
visiting our website.
I first became inspired to learn
how to build a website around 2004 when my father, having been laid off
from his job, began experimenting with building his own online store
for digital cameras.
I was appauled to learn that he went to a seminar and ended up spending
$6,000.00 for the software and web space to build several stores.
He played with it for a while but became discouraged when he learned of
the extras that he would have to pay for to get traffic and process
credit cards to his store. Soon he found another job and didn't have
time to work on the websites.
I was newly married at the time so on a visit to my parent's house I
asked about his websites and he said I could take the software and the
manual home to work with since they were now collecting dust.
I read through the material and started setting up a store front. While
working on this myself and seeing what the company offered in an online
store I soon wondered if there was a way I could do it myself without
the added expenses. I went on a little bit of a mission to learn about
web building.
Over the next few years I made the switch to a very low cost webhost
that promised a website up in 20 minutes. In 2007 I made another more
serious effort to get a web store up, but with little understanding of
web coding and no traffic I soon focused more on my day job.
In July of 2008 I was searching for ideas to start my own business and
came across a post in a forum for a great company that offered a
wonderful product for web building and offered a great affiliate
program. I was quite skeptical at first based on previous experience
with companies offering web building software.
Site
Build It (SBI) truly offered me more than I ever expected. I
did a lot of research on SBI before deciding it would live up to my
expectations and even beyond. If you have any interest in building a
website for fun or to start your own web business, SBI is definitely
for you. Site Build It also offers one of the best affiliate programs
on the net.
It is not a get rich quick scheme. It takes time to build the traffic
you need to suceed as an online business. SBI is with you every step of
the way offering you help. Think about it, you could turn any passion
you have into your own business. You could go with another webhost that
is low cost and offers a website up in mere hours, but the time you
invest over the next year trying to build traffic for that site will
cost you more in the long run.
Visit the forums to see the wonderful community of SBI owners to see
first hand how we support each other. Still not sure? Become an SBI
affiliate to learn much more about the product and make some
money in the process. You can also see a few other people who turned
their passions into a successful business. Whatever you decide to do I
wish you luck in the future.
