What is Horse Show Life?

Well, in a nutshell it is an online resource of helpful horse showing and horse-related information for amateur exhibitors and all horse enthusiasts.

My name is Lynn and I developed this website based on my own experiences when I started with horses and showing them. I found out first hand how big the learning curve was for new horse owners and made many mistakes along the way.

Growing up in the suburbs I had a lack of exposure to horses, however I did dream of keeping a horse in the garage and turning our backyard into a pasture.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to purchase my first horse until I was a young adult.

I also did not make the wisest decision in buying a 2 year old filly with 30 days on her...something about green on green makes black and blue...

After a couple years with her I became interested in horse shows and decided to give it a try with my beloved mare.

I soon found out that even a local horse show was very intimidating. I had many more questions about the horse show scene with few answers. It would have been great if there was a place to answer my questions...but there were none that I knew of.

Today I am enjoying my two wonderful horses at the shows each year. I have formed some great friendships and have gotten guidence through their support combined with horse professionals. However, I could have definitely used a website like Horse Show Life.com to help me through the beginning of this horse journey.

Why Build This Website?

I chose to put together this site for a couple of reasons. In the early years of horse ownership I remember having a lot of questions. I also had a difficult time figuring out where to go to have these questions answered.

I basically learned by doing and making mistakes, but I do feel it would have been nice to have had a source of information to answer my questions. Being newer to both horses and the horse shows may have been a little easier.

It is my hope that this website reaches out to newbies in the horse world, especially those interested in horse showing. I also hope to provide a resource that reaches exhibitors across the many horse show disciplines.

Horse Show Life.com is also offers visitors a well rounded experience by providing important horse information such as articles on horse care, health, tack, riding, safety, and nutrition.

How I Built This Website

The road to figuring out a website has been almost as difficult as figuring the world of horses. Once again I was back in the newbie category and had to figure a few things out on my own.

I began by signing up for one of those "have a website up in a day for only $4.99/month". At the time it seemed like a great way to get myself online for a few dollars a month.

The webhost offered all these neat features that were available for website owners (each for just a little bit more each month). What I didn't know at the time was that my biggest loss over the next year would be a year of hard work with little results.

My website was up but became buried against the many other horse-related websites and I couldn't compete by buying ton of advertisements like the larger websites.

In July of 2008 I came across a website powered by SBI. She recommended SBI as a wonderful product perfect for those willing to put a little BAM (brain and motivation) into building a real online business.

I have to admit I was quite skeptical at first so I spent a few weeks researching SBI, trying to find one solid negative review anywhere on the internet...and I couldn't!
