Heading to the Paint World show this year? If you're planning on making the trip to Fort Worth, TX for the fall World Championship Paint Horse Show as an exhibitor or visitor, you may want to check out our mini-guide below.

If you are new to the world show you likely have a million questions along with the added stress of getting there and showing.

We have put together a brief guide to answer some of your more important questions about the fall paint world show. Part one of the guide (below) reviews basic show information, judges, the gift show, and helpful visitor information.

In part two (next page) we keep you up to date with the latest show news, results, and links to live video feed from the show. Even if you plan on attending the show from the comfort of your home computer, you'll still stay current with the latest from Fort Worth!





Show Information

The fall 2009 Paint World show appears to be loaded with many opportunities for exhibitors. This year the show boasts plenty of awards and payouts for competitors, a breeders’ futurity, and slot classes.

Awards and Payouts: There is plenty of cash and prizes to be won this year with over $450,000 total! This year you will find added money in the following classes:
  • 3-Year-Old Western Pleasure Challenge - $5,000 added
  • 3-Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle Challenge - $5,000 added
  • Non-Pro 2-Year-Old Western Pleasure Sweepstakes - $1,000 added
  • Solid Paint Bred 3 & 4-Year-Old Western Pleasure Sweepstakes - $1,000 added
  • Bridleless Western Pleasure Sweepstakes - $1,000 added

Blue Ribbon is also expected to award a custom trophy saddle to the following winners:
  • Reserve All-Around Horse
  • All-Around Classic Amateur
  • All-Around Masters Amateur
  • All-Around Novice Amateur
  • High-Point Western Horse

There is a Lynn Palm saddle award which goes to the high-point english horse of the show. Hart Trailers is also on hand to award trailers to the winning all-around horse and non-pro versatility challenge champion. Other prizes include trophy buckles, monogrammed jackets, monogrammed halters, and much more.

Breeders' Futurity To be held in conjunction with the Paint World show, the breeders’ futurity is a new feature to the APHA's prestigious Breeders' Trust program. The futurity offers a selection of classes designed to promote offspring of Breeders' Trust stallions and mares bred to those stallions who are also nominated to the Breeders' Trust.

2009 foals born from these stallions and nominated mares are eligible to compete in weanling classes at the 2009 show. Each year the futurity will add classes and grow with the eligible generations of foals.

The futurity plans to pay back 95% of the purse to the foal owner and 5% to the mare nominator in gold, silver, and bronze divisions.

Slot Classes This line up of classes will again be offered at the 2009 Paint World Show. Slot classes will be held before their corresponding world classes during the show. Below is a list of current slot classes for 2009:
  • Weanling Stallions and Geldings - $1500
  • Weanling Mares - $1500
  • Yearling Stallions - $2500
  • Yearling Mares - $2500
  • Yearling Longe Line - $1500
  • Two-Year-Old Novice Horse Western Pleasure - $1500
  • Two-Year-Old Novice Horse Hunter Under Saddle - $1500
  • Three- and Four-Year-Old Western Pleasure - $1500
  • Cancelled: Yearling Geldings and Three- and Four-Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle

Non-Pro Exhibitors:
  • Non-Pro Weanling Stallions and Geldings - $1500
  • Non-Pro Weanling Mares - $1500
  • Non-Pro Yearling Longe Line - $1500
  • Cancelled: Non-Pro Three- and Four-Year-Old Western Pleasure and Non-Pro Three- and Four-Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle

Gift Show

The Colors Of The Season gift show put the icing on the cake at the fall Paint World show! Over 50 exhibitors offer visitors lots of purchasing choices in english/western apparel, tack, supplies, furniture, barns, trucks, art, and other gifts.

The gift show will be held in conjunction with the 2009 Paint world show Nov 5-Nov 14, 2009. Daily hours are 9:00am-6:00PM. Make sure you stop in and shop around, you're sure to find something that suits your needs!
