About The Games

The first World Equestrian Games were held in 1990 in Stockholm and featured six events including jumping, dressage, eventing, driving, endurance, and vaulting.

Prior to the games, those winning the championship titles in each discipline would earn the privilege to host the next world championship competition four years later. It wasn't until 1983 that the concept of hosting all the disciplines together at one place and time was first proposed.
